Sometimes two Osteopaths will work on one patient, a situation that can be very useful to solve obstinate problems. Double appointments carry an additional charge and are booked at the discretion of the Osteopaths only.

Cancellations / Missed Appointments

As we often have a waiting list for appointments, please give us as much notice as possible prior to any cancellation.

If you do not notify the practice, allowing a minimum 24 hours' notice, you may be charged the full fee, depending on circumstances. This also applies to missed appointments. We very much appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

Payment

We all accept Cash or Cheque, and ask that all appointments should be paid for on the day of treatment. Victoria and Fred also welcome credit card transactions.

Private Health Insurance – If you have private health insurance, we request that you pay us directly and then reclaim fees paid from your respective insurance company.

BUPA – We regret that having been BUPA providers of osteopathy for over 20 years, that from September 2012 we will no longer be offering this service. This is due new Terms and Conditions imposed on osteopaths by BUPA that will fundamentally alter the quality of osteopathic care that we are able to provide.

Your First Visit

The first appointment will last between 40 minutes and 1 hour.

Case History

The Osteopath will take a detailed history. This will include your current symptoms, when they started and questions about the affects they have on your daily life. Details about your past medical history will also be useful; any accidents, trauma, illnesses and operations as well as any other relevant areas of your health such as any emotional stress and strains.

Examination

The Osteopath will then look at your body, what your posture is like, observe your spine and specific relevant joint mobility. Specific appropriate clinical tests, such as the taking of blood pressure or testing of reflexes may also be perfomed.

The Osteopath will then gently put their hands on areas of your body to assess the general state of all tissues,(i.e,bones, muscles, ligaments, fascia, etc)and any particular strain patterns affecting the body. Using all the gathered information from both the history and the examination, the osteopath will form a diagnosis, and tailor an appropriate treatment plan for the individual.

What You Should Wear

You may be asked to remove some clothing for the examination, this is not usually necessary after the initial visit, but loose clothing is easier and more comfortable for us to work with.
